Mercedes will produce the 2026 GLB at its Kecskemét plant in Hungary, beginning about three months after launching the CLA Shooting Brake. According to TopElectricSUV, the company will offer three fully electric variants at launch: the GLB 220 EQ. Which delivers 231 horsepower using a lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery; the GLB 250+ EQ, producing 272 horsepower with a nickel manganese cobalt (NMC) battery; and the GLB 350 4Matic EQ, equipped with an NMC battery and offering 354 horsepower.

Mercedes equips all electric models with advanced charging capabilities. These vehicles can reach a 10–80% charge in approximately 22 minutes, thanks to a peak charging power of 320 kW. The company includes a standard 11 kW wallbox for home charging and offers a 22 kW onboard charger as an optional upgrade at launch.

In terms of design and tech, the 2026 GLB will be packed with modern features. It will offer the MBUX Superscreen, multibeam LED headlights, and a panoramic glass roof adorned with the iconic Mercedes-Benz star logo. Inside, buyers can choose an optional third row of seats, benefit from a spacious trunk, and enjoy the added practicality of a front storage compartment (frunk). The SUV will also include Level 2+ driver assistance systems, providing semi-autonomous driving support for daily use.

Mild Hybrid GLB Variants Expand Powertrain Choices with Electric-Assist and 48V System

In addition to the electric models, Mercedes will also release several mild hybrid versions of the 2026 GLB. These versions will use the M252 engine paired with a 27-horsepower electric motor integrated into an 8-speed dual-clutch transmission. This setup allows for limited all-electric driving—a first for Mercedes in its mild hybrid range—along with benefits like boost performance and regenerative braking.

The lineup of mild hybrid options includes the GLB 180, which offers 136 horsepower plus the electric motor’s 27 hp. The GLB 200 and GLB 200 4Matic both produce 163 hp. While the range-topping GLB 220 4Matic delivers 190 hp, all supplemented by the same 48V electric system. This hybrid technology allows the GLB to drive short distances without using the combustion engine. Helping to reduce emissions and improve fuel efficiency.
