Andrew and Tristan Tate Face Charges in UK

amynicole – UK prosecutors have officially charged Andrew and Tristan Tate with a total of 21 criminal offences. The Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) announced that Andrew faces 10 charges, including rape, actual bodily harm, human trafficking, and controlling prostitution for gain. These charges relate to three alleged victims. Tristan has been charged with 11 offences, including similar allegations, connected to one alleged victim. Both brothers deny all charges. The charges come following an investigation by Bedfordshire Police, which submitted a file of evidence to the CPS. These legal actions mark a significant development in the ongoing criminal proceedings involving the controversial influencer brothers.

CPS Issues Charges Following European Arrest Warrant

The Crown Prosecution Service confirmed that it authorised the charges after reviewing evidence from Bedfordshire Police. A European arrest warrant was issued in 2024, leading Romanian courts to approve the Tate brothers’ future extradition to the UK. However, their return to face UK charges is delayed. Romanian authorities must first complete criminal proceedings currently underway in their country. The CPS has urged the public to respect the legal process and avoid sharing information online that could influence the case. The defendants, the CPS stressed, are entitled to a fair trial without public interference or prejudice.

Allegations Date Back Over a Decade

The Tates allegedly committed the offences in the UK between 2012 and 2015. Hertfordshire police initially investigated some allegations but closed the case in 2019 without prosecution. Public pressure and victims’ lawyers later pushed for renewed scrutiny. Lawyer Matt Jury, representing three British alleged victims, welcomed the CPS’s action but criticised the earlier decision not to prosecute. He demanded justice for his clients, who first reported the abuse as early as 2014. Jury insists the justice system must hold the Tates fully accountable.

Separate Charges Ongoing in Romania

Romanian prosecutors continue to investigate Andrew and Tristan Tate for human trafficking, sexual exploitation of minors, and money laundering. Prosecutors recently sent another case, involving allegations of forming a criminal group to exploit women, back for review. Romanian courts must resolve these cases before extraditing the brothers to the UK. The Tates consistently deny all allegations and claim political and legal persecution. Their legal teams have not publicly responded to the UK charges.
